OUR MISSION

Who are we?

Founded in 2010, Creating Connected Communities (CCC), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to provide life-enhancing programs for children experiencing hardship by empowering teens to become engaged community leaders and volunteers. CCC is committed to being an inclusive organization that represents our diverse community.

CCC is dedicated to meeting the needs of families from diverse ethnic, social, religious, and economic backgrounds. Our interactive programs engage all participants in actively learning and contributing to our community through appreciation, acceptance, empathy and respect.

Community-Building Programs

Through our community programs, children receive thousands of gifts, meals, books and personal care items. They participate in carnivals, festivals, field trips, and educational support.

The Jewish teens in our Leadership Development Program (LDP) help plan and implement our community programs while learning critical leadership skills, addressing social justice issues, and so much more.

Young teens work with us to create individual and meaningful mitzvah projects. We also provide opportunities for scout troops, synagogues, and school clubs, to partner with us for group service projects.

Our Impact

CCC works to combat the effects of poverty through community-building programs that provide food and care essentials, support literacy, and give children and families in need opportunities to celebrate together.

CELEBRATION

CCC offers fun celebrations, family time, and interactive programs complete with sports activities, crafts, carnivals, and more for communities who otherwise wouldn’t get to experience them.

CONNECTION

Our teen volunteers and the children who attend our programs connect through meaningful peer interactions and shared experiences that truly build community.

CARE

We provide food, personal care items, books and school supplies to boost overall health and academic success at our CCC programs.

Why does Atlanta need our support?

In 2019, 21.9 percent of Atlanta’s population was living in poverty, more than double the national rate of 10.5 percent.⁽¹⁾ In fact, our city ranked third on a list of neediest cities, based on economic well-being.⁽²⁾

Sadly, children are some of the hardest hit by homelessness and poverty, and Georgia remains among the states where childhood is most threatened.⁽³⁾ In 2018, 21 percent of Georgia’s children were living in families with income below the federal poverty level. Of those children, more than one-third call metro Atlanta home.⁽⁴⁾
